Honda Civic Review

Since it was first introduced in 1972, the Honda Civic Coupe has been a successful car. The first designs of the Honda Civic were crude, and built around being cost effective. Featuring basic things such as two speed wipers, and wheels that were merely painted, it was primitive at best. Starting in the early 1990s, the civic evolved in the luxurious car we now see today. For its price (around $2,000 USD), you would receive a car with a 50 horse power engine, and a manual transmission. Starting in 1980, the Civic got a complete cosmetic overhaul. The design was meant to be more aerodynamic with a wider wheel base. All of the changes weren’t just cosmetic; under the hood had slight improvements as well. There was an optional four or five speed manual transmission, and the engine gained slightly more power. The sixth generation of civics started to look similar to modern Civics. It was a complete redesign from previous models; interior and exterior. There was an option between a four speed automatic, and a five speed manual transmission. In 2006 it got its most recent makeover. Most models included such features as ABS, and many safety features such as side air bags. The sound system had an amazing 160 watt, 6-speaker setup. There was of course air conditioning, alloy wheels, and a security system. Honda Civic CoupeThere were dozens of luxury features that completely changed it from earlier models. Around this time Honda revealed its Type R Civic which boasted such features as a 2.0 liter 198 bhp engine. Racing Civic’s started in 1973, however, the Type R gave a boost to the Civic racing culture.
