Making Biodiesel Fuel With Algae

While most biodiesel kits are focused around your car re-using old oil, this technique involves making your own oil to fuel your car. The fuel is algae. When algae grows, it breaths C02 to not only live, but to thrive. This is perfect because when you car is burning the algae, the main chemical that is outputted is indeed, C02. This makes the car the fuel carbon neutral because future crops of algae will use that carbon to breathe, thus creating the cycle.

To even be considered as an alternative fuel, you’ll need to be making hundreds of millions of gallons of fuel to make a dent. By 2010 they hope to make up to 100,000,000 gallons of fuel using nothing but algae. This probably sounds a lot harder than it actually is because it only takes one acre of water to make 10,000 gallons of fuel. Hopefully they can produce great amounts of it, because the cost they aim to produce it for is only $1.00. Maybe those souring fuel prices will be stopped by none other than biodiesel in the future?
